Indus Dolphin Boat Safari

The Indus Dolphin is a unique river cetacean that only occurs in Pakistan and one of most endangered Cetacean species of the world. Most dolphins and whales are found only in the sea, but the Indus River dolphin survives only in freshwater.

The Adventure Foundation Pakistan (AFP) has initiated a community based project to organize dolphin boat safaris from Taunsa Barrage.

Under this project a small cooperative society of the boat people manages and benefits from the proceeds of the ecotourism activity. The AFP provides technical assistance to the boat people and also helps promote this activity using its close alliances with conservation NGOs such as WWF, IUCN and other tourism promotion organizations.
